How God sees you.

GOD’S EYES
He looks at the heart.
OUR EYES
We look at the surface.
“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7
Examples
GOD’S EYES
Rahab: a prostitute. God saw faith.
Jacob: a schemer. God saw a nation.
David: a shepherd boy. God saw a king.
Matthew: a traitor for Rome. God saw a disciple.
The Samaritan woman: an outcast. God saw a witness.
OUR EYES
Esau: the firstborn, the obvious heir.
Eliab: the tall older brother. “Surely this is the one.”
Saul: a head taller than everyone.
Absalom: the most handsome man in Israel.
The rich young ruler: rich, devout, and respectable.

Posture

How you respond to Him.

HUMBLE
Trusts God.
PROUD
Trusts self.
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
Proverbs 3:34
Examples
HUMBLE
David: a king who owned his sin.
The tax collector: beat his breast and asked for mercy.
Naaman: a foreign commander who humbled himself, and was healed.
The centurion: “only say the word, and he will be healed.”
Noah: obeyed God when the world would not.
Hagar: an outsider God met in the desert, and she trusted Him.
PROUD
The Pharisee: bragged before God, went home empty.
Saul: kept the crown but lost the heart for it.
Adam & Eve: took the fruit, then hid from God.
Pharaoh: hardened his heart against the living God.
Goliath: defied the armies of the living God.
Herod: took God’s glory for himself, struck down.

Takeaway

Position how God sees you may surprise you.
Posture how you respond is yours.
Humble yourself before God.
What humility looks like
